The East Coast Ladies Kennel Association is one of New Zealand's youngest All Breeds
Dog Club, formed in June 1996. The first of several Match Days was held in October that year and, following official Recognition by the N.Z. Kennel Club in February 1998, the club hosted its first Ribbon Parade in May 1998. Well-attended Ribbon Parades continue to be held frequently throughout the year. The N.Z.Kennel Club granted the club Associated status in 1999 enabling it to hold its first Open Show in December 1999. This was a great success. The club proceeded to host 2 Open Shows each year; one in in conjunction with the Wairoa K.A Championship Shows (March/April) and what was to become our traditional 'Christmas Open Show' in December. On Saturday, June 29th 2002, delegates at the N.Z. Kennel Club's Annual Conference ratified the Executive Council's decision to grant our club full Affiliation, and we then looked forward to hosting our first Championship Shows. Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th December 2003 were momentous dates in the club's history for this is when the East Coast Ladies Kennel Association's inaugural, and very successful, Championship Shows were held. The club has continued to host its dual Championship Shows over the second weekend in December, along with an Open Show in conjunction with Wairoa K.A. and, not forgetting, Ribbon Parades throughout the year. |
